Coach or a friend?
There is no doubt that without a good coach even the best team cannot achieve great results, because they need proper guidance. In soccer history we had the pleasure to observe amazing coaches, who greately improved the team's performance. They manage to change the player's attitude to make the most of his skills and abilities. Every coach has his own style and idea how his team should play. Even though being a coach is a very rewarding job, it is also difficult, because the coach is always the first one to be blamed and usually when the team is not playing well, he gets fired first. Being coach requires not only a lot of knowledge about the technical aspects of soccer, but also the ability to work with his players and make them better and better every day. Let's take a look at a few coaches, who definitely left an imprint in soccer history.
Pep Guardiola. Great player, even better coach. This is the guy, who created ticki-tacka (passing the ball many times before attacking the other's team goal) while he was working in FC Barcelona ( 2008-2012). It was said that he could not be the right choice for such a big club as FC Barcelona. Pep Guardiola, however showed everyone that there was no better candidate than him. The year after he joined the club, he was able to win the Champione League, Copa de la Coronación and Spanish Championship. He was able to do it a few more times, for example in 2011. Pep Guardiola definly helped FC Barcelona in becoming one of the greatest teams in soccer history and he still continues his work. Guardiola is considered to be very open coach. Players perceive him as a friend, who they can count on.
It is impossible to talk about Pep Guardiola without mentioning his biggest rival, Jose Mourinho, who chose a different career than his Spanish collegue. Mourinho also played for Barcelona, but when he retired in 2004, he decided to be a coach in Chelsea London, where he started being recognized as one of the best coaches. He was able to win English Champoinship twice in 2004 and 2005. He became a big media personality and gave many controversial interviews. In 2010 he started coaching Real Madrid and this was the beginning of the biggest coach rivarly in history. Mourinho represents a different style of coaching than Pep Guardiola. From his players' perspective, Mourinho is not a friend. He always supports them, but their realtionships are never going to be as close as Guardiola has with his players.
There is one more coach, who is worth mentioning. He has not achieved as big of a success as his collegues, but he is an example of a coach, who is always a friend to his players. Jurgen Klopp, german coach, whose career is limited to only three soccer clubs, which owe him a lot. Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund and currently Liverpool know how important he is, as a figure, in creating the image of the club. He was able to win German Cup, German Championship and he was in Champions League's final in 2013. Everyone who knows Jurgen Klopp says that he is always supportive and extremely charizmatic and this is what makes him one of the best coaches in the world.
