Super Bowl Sunday... Rigged?

Today we are all getting ready to see another great Super Bowl matchup: the New England Patriots against the Philadelphia Eagles. As we gear up for the game tonight, adorning or jerseys and cooking up nachos and pizza, let's take a look at how the game is being rigged and why it is pointless to watch unless you want to see a game where the only outcome is a Patriots win.

Many people tonight are absolutely positive that New England will come out victorious and Tom Brady will snatch up his sixth ring, but why do they think that? Could it be that the Patriots are actually good? That the Eagles aren't? No, it's because they know the games are rigged. The refs are paid off, the balls are slightly deflated, and Tom Brady will keep going to every Super Bowl until he retires, all because the big money is in that team. Ratings will skyrocket for every Super Bowl because the Patriots' following is enormous, and when ratings soar, so does revenue. Roger Goodell is sitting in his big luxury office in New York with dollar signs in his eyes for what's going to happen tonight.

Let's recap the game that sparked the controversy.

The Patriots pulled off a 24-20 comeback victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars two weeks ago, winning the AFC Championship and securing their spot in Super Bowl LII. Jacksonville led 20-10 early in the fourth quarter, but could not hold against one of the "greatest" teams of all time.

Rumors that the Jaguars had thrown their game against the Pats were confirmed when Jags QB Jalen Ramsey tweeted "Coach told us in the middle of the 4th to give the game to NE. We didn't want to, but Commissioner said it's best for the league. Leaving it in God's hands". Subsequently, Ramsey was banned after blowing the whistle. After a Pats touchdown, one ref could be seen celebrating with the Patriots instead of officiating the game, a big grin spread across his face. I smell a payoff. On top of all that, Roger Goodell admits that they have been

Who am I kidding? The NFL is not rigged. The Pats are not cheating. Everything about this is completely made up: Ramsey was not banned (the tweet did not even exist), Roger Goodell did not hold an emergency press conference to admit to rigging games, but I cannot say for sure if the refs were really working for the Patriots (highly doubtful). Al, of the information given above are conspiracy theories from people who believe their team is being cheated out of a win and people who like to play jokes on the former.

There is no evidence that the Patriots are working with the Commissioner to win games and boost ratings, and as far as I can see, there will not ever be any solid evidence. We will see tonight if the Patriots are once again "favored by the refs". Honestly, though, how many people are actually watching for the game?

I'm just going to be there to see the new Doritos commercial.
