NCAA: Top of the FBI's 'watch list'

It's been the top story in sports news everywhere, the NCAA is under FBI investigation. Top basketball programs in the NCAA have been accused of buying off their recruits. This includes well-known schools such as Michigan St., UNC, Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas. The story is, supposedly, a company called ASM Sports, ran by Andy Miller, have been providing money, entertainment and travel expenses for the players. The FBI found documents stating that specific college basketball players, recent and past, have been involved in this scandal.

First on the list was Dennis Smith Jr. who was once a point guard for North Carolina State University. Smith allegedly received $43,500 from Miller's agency. Smith Jr. received the most funding's out of all the other college basketball players listed. However, the Pina document shown in Yahoo! Sports article lists Smith Jr. receiving $73,500.

A name you might recognize a little more than Dennis Smith Jr. is what was listed on the documents as "BAM". This name was later explained to be Kentucky basketball player, Edrice 'BAM' Adebayo. Adebayo is accused of supposedly receiving $12,000. On the Pina document next to Adebayo's name states "Bad Loan" and stating that Adebayo received $36,500.

A player from Duke University, Wendell Carter, is also on this list. Although Carter's name is mentioned, it is not even about him directly. Christian Dawkins had taken Wendell's mother out to eat. However, it is not certain that Carter's mother did not pay for her own meal, although it is probably assumed.

A big name in this investigation is DeAndre Ayton who supposedly received $100,000 from Dawkins. Arizona head caoch, Sean Miller, however, denied Ayton ever recieving any amount of money from Dawkins. With this Miller, has been in hot water when it comes to his job. Although Ayton was present, Miller missed Arizona's game against Oregon, but still remains head coach of Arizona thus far. Arizona is also effected by this scandal because of a lost commit. Shareef O'Neal, Shaquille O'Neal's son, had de-committed from Arizona to later commit to UCLA. It is not certain that O'Neal's de-commitment from Arizona has anything to do with the scandal, but odds are O'Neal is being smart about the situation and trying to stay out of it.

Throughout this scandal, some arrests have been made. Emanuel Richardson, now former Arizona assistant, was one of four Division I assistance to be arrested and charged. Arrests have also been made to Auburn assistant, Chuck Person, Southern California assistant, Tony bland and Oklahoma State assistant, Lamont Evans.
