When a basket’s scored, a touchdown is made, or a goal is kicked, there is some form of celebration from the crowd, and the players themselves. These moves initiate a proud moment in sports. Nonetheless, dancing is important throughout the sports world! So today’s article will talk about some of the best moves in the sports world today.
Starting in basketball, we have James Harden of the Houston Rockets. Known for sensational threes, Harden, also known as “The Beard,” is quick to stir the pot after a successful three. With him and his team going undefeated this past February, that is definitely something worth celebrating. Next in basketball, we have number 30 for Golden State, Stephen Curry. Curry is known for his long distance shots from almost anywhere on the court. Steph celebrates with an occasional shimmy and shake, along with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Next, we have King James and his iconic “Stomp” celebration. It is the occasional jumper (when he is not fouling himself, but that is another story) from James and no doubt, a sight to see. They get down in basketball.
Next, in football, we visit Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers, who enjoys whatever dance has a catchy song to it. His whips and “nae-naes” were something to see and often made the crowd and his team eager to win the game. This spirit and competitiveness of the team took the Panthers to the Super Bowl 50. Although they did not win, Cam’s dancing never stopped. Antonio Brown of the Pittsburg Steelers had such a phenomenal touchdown dance, twerking in the end zone. After a successful catch, how else would you celebrate? Although this only happened once, it was something to remember. Lastly, let us celebrate OBJ, Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham dances in practices, on boats, and during the game. Odell, like Newton, takes part in the whip as well as “hitting them folks,” a popular dance on social media today. Even in practice, OBJ is the life of the party. Football requires a quick turn up per play.
Now, golf may seem slow to some, but, hole-in-ones are serious business that should be celebrated. Normally, just a simple victory fist shake is all the greats do. Something new was when Miguel Angel Jimenez’s hole-in-one in Abu Dhabi was one danced out until the ball recovered. He put his fist in the air and became ecstatic. He even hit the cha-cha down the green. The dance was so legendary that Rory Mcllroy, another golfer who looks up to the skills of Jimenez, imitated the dance of the golfer. Ironically, it was before Jimenez hit another hole-in-one.
Sports allows emotions to flourish and require much celebration. The audience and players can all express themselves through their passion of dance. Whether it is a fan on the jumbo Tron, or a quick boogie around the bases in baseball, dancing is a quick way to expression, and it gets everyone amped for the outcome of the game.
