Mountaineers lost against Lagrange College
Mountaineers after exciting game held on Friday, 23rd of March, lost against Lagrange College. Game ended after 8 inning resulting in 17-5 loss, leaving Berea KY with only two wins throughout whole season. Without a doubt, this game was an important test for Berea players and a chance to show their potential. Unfortunately, their opponents turned out to be too strong, giving Mountaineers an opportunity to redeem themselves on Sunday.
Berea College started well, earning in the first inning one run and three hits. Second inning remained scoreless, but in third Akins by doubling to the left field, gave Bot a chance to score. The bottom of forth inning resulted in Su throwing the ball to the center field and enabling Crowe to score. Without a doubt Michael Smither was the player, who stood out during the game, earning eight hits and seven runs. Dylan Sallee was the only player in Berea KY team, who was able to get one home run.
After the fourth inning, Lagrange College greatly improved their performance by earning four runs and hits. McKinley Erves, who got three hits and runs, and Jacob Gassert, who was able to get four hits, three runs and a home run, without a doubt played a very important role in this game, giving their team a chance of beating Mountaineers.
Lagrange College was dominant throughout the sixth inning, which was full of emotions and action. During the sixth inning, we could watch eleven runs and twelve hits. Despite the fact that supporters were doing their best to cheer Mountaineers up, their hope of winning this game, decreased. Rhett Mixon, James Poropatic and Jack Layrisson were scoring one by one, leaving Berea College players clueless.During the seventh inning, Flink sacrificed the fly giving Erves the opportunity to score. In the bottom of seventh inning, TC Eads scored for the last time for Berea College. Eighth inning ended by the score from Jacob Gassert, who secured the win for Lagrange College.
Without a doubt, it was not the best game by Mountaineers, whose season is not good. They were able to only two games. However, season is far from over and they still have a lot of time to improve their performance. The next chance to win is on Sunday against the same opponent, so they can proof themselves and their fans they are capable of winning.
