Kamil Stoch, a Polish hero
Ski jumping competition for year 2017/2018 ended yesterday and it was definitely the year of a single athlete, Kamil Stoch, whose amazing performance put all of his opponents in the shadow. He was able to claim the overall World Cup title last weekend, but he is famous for his persistence and he did not give up the last competition, which took place in Slovakian Planica, where his dominance throughout a season was rewarded, and he got second in his career Crystal Ball.
His amazing performance was not only limited to winning the World Cup. He was able to win individual gold medal for Poland in Pjongchang during Winter Olympics, and bronze medal in Polish team. Additionally, he won Four Hills Tournament earning first places during all four competitions, reaching a record established eighteen years ago by Sven Hannawald. Kamil Stoch was the best during Raw Air and Willingen Five Competition. Moreover, he earned silver individual medal and one bronze in Polish team during Skifly World Championships. This season is without a doubt the best in his career, but he is far from admitting it. Kamil Stoch during the interview with Polish sport magazine, hopes that his best season is ahead of him and he will improve his performance even more if it possible. He admits that ski jumping is the sport he truly loves and the emotions he experiences, compensate his hard work (2018).
Kamil Stoch is considered to be the best ski jumper in the world, which is strongly supported by the list of his achievements not only in this season, but also during his whole career. Even his rivals from different countries admit that it is a pleasure for them to face Kamil, because he makes them work even harder and become better. The only way they can actually win against him is to seek constant development. Daniel Andre Tande, the athlete from Norway, after the last competition, said he had no idea how Stoch does it, but he is extremely good (2018). Richard Freitag, his rival from Germany, admits that this season belonged to Stoch and he is happy, he could be a part of Stoch's success. Although, sometimes he could just watch, because he was not able to threaten him in any way (2018).
Kamil Stoch, despite getting a lot of attention, remains the same modest, guy from a tiny village near Zakopane. According to his family and friends he has not changed at all. His life is based on stable values. Money and recognition is not what he needs to be happy. While asked what he thinks about naming the slope after him, he refused saying that he is only does his job well (2018).
Kamil Stoch is truly the role model. His hard work, moral rules, love to sport and respect to his opponents is outstanding. He is our Polish hero and no matter what happens in his career next, he has already written the huge part in ski jumping' history. And we all are waiting for more.
