Lagrange College is too strong for the Mountaineers
On Sunday, 25th of March, we were able watch Berea KY' game against Lagrange College, who once again turned out to be a very difficult opponent for the Mountaineers. The game resulted in 4-0 win, after ninth inning for visitors. This game was a chance for Berea College' team to redeem themselves after disappointing season, but unfortunately they still are unable to improve their performance.
The game was not very amusing, because in the first inning, we were only able to see one hit. The second and the third inning remained scoreless giving time for both teams to come up with the best strategy to win the game, and achieve the best result possible. Lagrange College, without a doubt, used this time wisely and took advantage of weak performance by the Mountaineers. In the fourth inning they managed to score. McKinley Erves singled to center field, at the same time giving James Poropatic a chance to reach the third base. Jacob Gassert was able to score for the first time since the beginning of the game. In the the fourth inning, we could witness one run and three hits for Lagrange College and only one hit for the home team.
The fifth inning only resulted in one hit for the visitors, but the sixth inning was a bit more interesting. During the sixth inning, Lagrange College was able to score one more time, slowly depriving the Mountaineers of hope. Jack Layrisson advanced to the second base and Jacob Gassert scored again, leading 2-0. His performance during this game was good. He was able to earn two runs and one hit throughout a whole game.
The seventh inning resulted in only one hit by Lagrange College. Their win was secured in the eight inning, when Dawson Weaver singled to the left field. At the same time, Jackson Patrick advanced to the second base. Grant Perry scored and became the best scorer in the team. Few minutes later, McKinley Erves was able to score for the fourth time securing the win over the Mountaineers, who did not earn a single run throughout a whole game. The ninth inning did not bring us any runs and Lagrange College was officially a winner.
Berea KY team has certainly few problems and is not able to win more than two games in this season. However, they still can count on their supporters, who show up to their games and hopefully they will not give up that easily. In two days, the Mountaineers are going away to look for their third win over Alice Lloyd College.
