The Difference Between Venus and Serena Williams

Anybody with siblings knows how annoying they can be most times. Some irritate us so much that we just need a year’s vacation away. Others grow so close to each other that they end up becoming involved in the same things. That happens with tennis stars, Venus and Serena Williams. Both are great tennis players but they cannot ever escape being compared to each other. Their comparisons remind me of when every mother used to dress you and your siblings alike (my mom used to do it all the time). You have an identity and differences are there, but when you all are in the same area, does it really matter? Not really.

However, the sisters’ are significantly different. For starters, Venus is the oldest. Only by one year, Venus lets the world know (whenever asked) that she is the oldest and sometimes feels bad when she beats her sister at the game of tennis-a game they both dominate. Venus steals the show with her idolizing style. Her features in magazines adore her style and poise as well as her Black Girl Magic on the tennis court. Venus also differs from her sister when it comes to Olympics. Venus has four gold medals and one silver from her appearances at the events and so many sponsorships just for participating in the games alone. Her determination shows through her skill that reflects an “it’s all about winning” attitude.

If you, media, and sports combine like myself, you can tell the difference between the two when it comes to their relationships with stars in music. Venus associates more with rappers. Just about a year ago, Venus and Drake used to be together all the time. They stirred up the pot for relationship rumors everywhere. Although, we can neither confirm nor deny their relationship rumors, we tended to idolize the couple whenever pictures of them were open to the public. In the other hand, we have Serena who everybody remembers in Beyoncé’s “Sorry” music video. We become exposed to Serena’s fun side: dancing alongside Queen Bey while lip-syncing to one of Bey’s hottest songs from the album. This shows us little but important differences when it comes to the sisters.

Serena also dominates the tennis court. She takes pride in her four gold medals from the Olympics. Serena has so far competed in 60 Grand Slam tournaments and has won 21 of those. Serena also holds a strange record for the most years between her US Open singles championships, which tells us, no matter the off-season

, she stays on her A-Game. When it comes to consistent wins, Serena has won 28 straight in her Grand Slam career. In addition to mentions of her accomplishments, Serena has recently given birth and married news that has kept her in the media recently.

The sisters let nothing get in between their relationship. Since growing up in the rough city of Compton, the girls still made it a mission to do their absolute best and inspire everywhere.
