The last game of the season
On Tuesday, 10th of April, we could watch the last baseball game of the season against Transylvania University, which resulted in the 5-4 win for the Mountaineers, who secured their fifth win of the season.
The game, without a doubt, brought us many emotions, because for the longest part of the it, Berea College was struggling to score. Till the fourth inning, visitors were able to score four times, leaving the Mountaineers even without a run.
The situation turned dramatically in the sixth inning, when the home team was very determinate to end the season with a win. The Mountaineers were able to score three times and earned two hits, giving themselves and their supporters hope to achieve the best result possible. Visitors could not stop Berea College’ players and left the pitch without any run or hit. After the sixth inning, Transylvania University was still winning 4-3.
However, it changed in the eighth inning, when Andrew Akins scored again, giving the Mountaineers a tie. The results was settled in the eleventh inning, when Dacci earned the last run of the game, finishing the season for the Mountaineers.
Without a doubt, each and every player was very engaged and determinate to help the team. Andrew Atkins, was the player, who stood up during the game. He was able to score twice in the sixth and the eighth inning. Additionally, he was able to get at bats four times and earned one hit. He was definitely a figure, who changed to dynamics of the game. Another player worth mentioning is Ryan Blevins, who scored once, got at bats five times and earned two hits. Last run was scored by Cambridge Dacci.
Transylvania University had few players, whose performance was good. Taylor Henley got one hit and one run in the game. Similarly, Hudson Chastain helped the team by earning one hit, one run and being at base fife times.
This came closed not a very good season for the Mountaineers, who were only able to win five games, tie one and lose every other. However, this game was certainly uplifting, giving the players and their supporters hope to come better and stronger next season.
