Why Does the SEC Dominate in College Football.
In college football we all know which conference dominates college football, and obviously it is the SEC. The Southeastern Conference has won 9 out of the last 11 national titles, and are looking to add more to it. With all of the domination, everyone who follows college football wonders why the SEC has controlled college football for this long. There are couple reasons why the conference is so dominate, but there is a one reason that sticks out more than others. Here why the SEC is so dominate in college football.
Recruiting is the biggest reason why the SEC is so dominate in college football. By looking at the numbers it is not really that close. Alabama has won the recruiting title for the past 5 to 6 years until this year, but it was Georgia winning the recruiting title, so it stayed in the SEC. Other SEC schools as the likes of Auburn, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and South Carolina are having top highly regraded recruiting classes in the past years. The stranglehold the SEC has on recruiting will be keep adding on to the success the conference keeps having.
Another reason for the SEC dominance is the recruits themself. The recruits that most of the SEC schools are landing some of the most highly regraded recruits in the nation. The recruiting classes are not just ranked highly by quantity, but quality. Alabama, for example, has absolutely dominated recruiting. Every year, their classes are stacked with recruits that are going to be NFL players every year. Georgia, LSU, and Auburn are the same way. All are battling against one each other to land that certain recruit. So, the recruits itself lead to the dominance run by the SEC.
One of the other reason why the SEC is the best is because of the coaches in the SEC. The SEC is a whole other level with coaches. If you have a Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Jimbo Fisher, Dan Mullen, Gus Malzahn, and Will Muschamp all in one conference, then your doing pretty good. All six of those coaches have coached some highly regraded teams in years past, and nothing going to change with that. Along with that, you have up and comers with likes of Jeremy Pruitt, Matt Rhule, and Chad Morris. From top to bottom the SEC has the best coaches in the country.
All in all, that is why the SEC has been so dominate for the past decade. With the recruiting, the recruits, and the coaches the SEC from top to bottom is the best in college football. As of the looks for the future, do not expect anything to change for a while, as the dominance looks to stay in the conference for years to come.
